The Fire Division of
Royersford Fire Department
The fire division of the Royersford Fire Department is a 100% volunteer entity operating at 299 Walnut Street in Royersford Borough adjacent to Borough Hall & the Royersford Police Department proudly serving Royersford Borough and portions of Upper Providence Towship. Our primary coverage area encompasses over 4.5 square miles providing fire protection for almost 11,000 residents. The fire division provides hazard mitigation such as fire suppression and various types of specialized rescue services such as vehicle, water, and ice rescue. Additionally RFD provides traffic control at incidents when needed and responds to various other hazard related emergencies. The department is dispatched through the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety utilizing the designation of Station 98.
The fire station is a four-bay 10,884 square foot steel structure consisting of a 5,600 square foot two-story living and administrative area and a 5,284 square foot apparatus bay. The building has capacity for four full-size apparatus as well as multiple support vehicles. The station has specific areas for administrative offices, a training room, kitchen, and lounge and supports the needs of the fire division not only today but well into the future. The station was designed to support the need of providing sleeping quarters and food preparation for members staying at the station during emergency staffing or providing shift coverage.
The fire division is led by a fire chief and a command structure consisting of a deputy chief, assistant chief, captain, and lieutenant. The EMS division utilizes a "Crossover Program" which allows EMS providers who also possess firefighting training and certifications to supplement staffing when needed. Weekly department training occurs during two sessions to include those who work traditional business hours as well as those who may work overnight. Members gather on Monday evenings as well as Wednesday mornings to train in all facets of the department.
The department currently operates three pieces of fire apparatus and two support vehicles.
