Royersford Fire Department is proud to announce our partnership with Harrisburg Area Community College and the Shumaker Public Safety Training Center to host an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification class. This course is a blended/hybrid consisting of online learning and 5 sessions for hands-on practical application. The current EMR certification is comparable to the "First Responder" certification of the recent past. The EMR certification is more than a first aid card but less than an EMT so it's good for almost anyone who has the vaguest interest in medical care. The EMR certification allows you to do solid assessments, identify and treat life threats, and assist EMTs with BLS level skills. Seven of our current EMS staff are instructors with HACC and will be involved in the delivery of the content! This course is being held at the Walnut Street station and the dates are:
Wednesday November 6th, 2019 6pm-10pm (1800-2200) Wednesday December 11th, 2019 6pm-10pm (1800-2200) Friday January 10th, 2020 6pm-10pm (1800-2200) Saturday January 11th, 2020 8am-6pm (0800-1800) Sunday January 12th, 2020 8am-6pm (0800-1800)
After the completion of the program you will be testing through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at a date TBD. Attached is a flyer for you to distribute internally at the station. Official registration is through the HACC website. Registration deadline is October 16th or until the class fills.
Any questions please feel free to contact EMS Supervisor Lenny Brown at LBROWN@rfd98.org or contact HACC directly via their website.
