Department Responds to Vehicle Accident in Upper Providence

Two minutes before 2:30pm on Friday afternoon both Fire & EMS Divisions of the Department were alerted to an auto accident in the area of Black Rock Road & 2nd Avenue in Upper Providence Township. In addition to RFD units, Upper Providence Township Department of Fire & Emergency Services, Collegeville Fire Company, and Upper Providence Township Police Department were dispatched to assist. Initial units arrived to find a two vehicle accident with one vehicle coming to rest on its side. All occupants were able to self-extricate prompting Rescue 34 from Collegeville to be recalled and EMS transporting one patient to a local trauma center for continuing care. The roadway was shut down in both directions for approximately 30 minutes before reopening to traffic.
