Overnight Fire Staffing Comes to Walnut Street Station

One of the new ventures at the Royersford Fire Department in 2020 is establishing an overnight staffing program for fire responses. The goal is to reduce fire response times to provide more effective and efficient services to the Royersford community. The typical residential fire triples in size every minute and by decreasing response times this will without a doubt save lives and property.
The program, funded by a FEMA grant known as a SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) grant, provides a small stipend to the members working shifts. The staffing schedule is operating from 6pm until 6am, seven days a week.
The first overnight shift in 2020 was staffed by (from left to right) Firefighter Dan Miller, Firefighter Jeremy Davis, Chief Jared Weeks and Firefighter Bill Latch.
